ZIP Seller Protection Policy

The ZIP Seller Protection Policy safeguards merchants against risks which cost significant time and resources to address, including fraudulent transactions and items not received by the buyer. Our Merchants can benefit from Seller Protection for no extra cost and with no need to subscribe provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

ZIP’s product and service offering is specifically designed for online transactions. Traditionally this area has experienced significant levels of fraud for both Sellers and Buyers. ZIP’s Seller Protection Policy takes fraud out of the picture and allows Merchants to focus on what they do best – looking after their customers!

ZIP Seller Protection is available for eligible purchases made via ZIP Payment Services.

If you are an eligible seller or accredited Merchant, the ZIP Seller Protection Policy can help protect you from claims regarding:

If ZIP deems that you meet all necessary requirements for the ZIP Seller Protection Policy, ZIP will protect you for the full amount of any claim made against you by the customer.

The ZIP Seller Protection Policy is incidental to our Services and issued at our discretion. We reserve the right to terminate or amend the terms and conditions of these policies at any time. If we make any substantive changes which may negatively impact your use of our Services in a material way, we will notify you.

You have no automatic entitlement to protection under the ZIP Seller Protection Policy.

The policy does not indemnify you for loss and is not a contract of insurance.

Eligibility

You must meet all of these requirements to be eligible for ZIP Seller Protection:

Limitations

The ZIP Seller Protection Policy will not apply to a transaction if:

You combine items purchased through separate ZIP payments into a single shipment;
More than one payment is received for a single transaction;
You do not provide Proof of Shipment or respond to our requests for information in a timely manner;

We may suspend your eligibility for ZIP Seller Protection if it is linked or associated with another account which has been suspended. We will lift the suspension provided we no longer hold a reasonable belief that there is an increased risk associated with your account. If we reasonably believe a risk still exists, we may in our sole discretion, require you to take certain action in order to lift the suspension of your eligibility for ZIP Seller Protection. You must follow our directions as reasonably required by ZIP within the timeframe specified. We will notify you by email if we suspend or lift the suspension of your eligibility for ZIP Seller Protection.

If we receive a claim we will email you to let you know the details of that claim. We will ask you to provide Proof of Shipment and any other information we need to determine whether the transaction meets the eligibility requirements for the ZIP Seller Protection Policy.

We will use our reasonable discretion to determine whether a transaction meets the ZIP Seller Protection Policy eligibility requirements. If it does, we will protect you from any reversal or chargeback.

If we determine that a transaction does not meet the eligibility requirements, we will chargeback the funds from your account, together with any fees.

Exclusions

If we reasonably determine, having considered all relevant circumstances, that you have abused the ZIP Seller Protection Policy, we may at our sole discretion exclude you from the ZIP Seller Protection Policy or take any other actions pursuant to your Agreement. We will notify you if you are excluded.

Seller responsibilities

If you lose a “significantly not as described” claim, the buyer will generally return the item to you and you are required to provide a refund to their ZIP Account for the full purchase price (including original shipping costs). You will not receive a refund for the ZIP fees you paid.

If you lose a “significantly not as described” claim because the item is counterfeit, we or the buyer may be required by law to destroy the item. You will not receive the item back in this instance. Alternatively, we may require the buyer to make the item available for you to collect at your cost.
